The SOVAT Mixer

Though simplified, this is a fully-functional multi-track mixer. In this lesson, you'll learn the parts of the mixer, what each control does, and you will mix several different songs.

Channel Strip: Basic Understanding

Channel Strip
controls the sound for one channel or track. This simplified Channel Strip includes

  • Scribble Strip
    with the name of the track (or group of tracks).
  • Solo Buttons
    will silent all tracks except the selected track . [... more] Usually, the mixer will "solo" only into the headset, not affecting the "house mix".
  • Mute Buttons
    will silent that track. Be careful [... more] when using the Mute Button during a live mix. You don't want to accidentally mute the pastor during his sermon.
  • Faders
    control the level for that track (or group of tracks).
  • The Main Channel
    controls the mix of the other channels.
